Engraving on wood is an old tradition, harking back to times when a metal brand was heated and pressed into wooden items to manually burn in a design. Nowadays, we have the technology to engrave with great detail and precision on wood, using CO2 laser engravers.
CO2 lasers create a high-heat precision beam that can burn the most complex and intricate designs onto wood, via digital artwork to control the laser engraving process. The special thing about wood engraving is that, while the laser engraves with precision and exact replication, the wood substrate is different every time, so there is a very subtle sense of variation that offers a pleasing visual aesthetic to engraved wood awards.
